Sorry, couldn’t help that, given the pronouncement from Vogue that is being picked up by all the news outlets, both conventional and fashion:
Vogue announces the end of cleavage: It’s over
In an article titled “Desperately Seeking Cleavage,” the magazine says, “The cleavage – those magnificent mounds pushed together to display sexual empowerment, to seduce, to inspire lust or even just to show off – is over, or at least, taking a well-earned break.”
What is taking the long-lasting style staple? Exposed shoulders, stomach or legs.
If it’s true that we will all be spared the boobage of women young and old over the next year’s fashion cycle, then I’m all for that!
Will I now be able to make a Target run with being assaulted by the breast brigade? Saggy breasts! Tattooed breasts! High breasts, low breasts, new breasts, old breasts.Fake breasts, fat breasts, and pushed up flat breasts!
The mass coverage will be a welcome change.
Of course, I’m not at all certain how women showing off shoulders, stomach, and legs is any less sexually charged than breasts. I have a leg man, after all.
This also poses a personal dilemma. I have a blouse I was planning on wearing out to the movies with the man this weekend which hangs off the shoulders.
Except I loathe being trendy. Perhaps in this case I’m cutting edge?
